Crossfire Stem

Ensure the 'No Gap' indication is positioned on the upper side of the stem. Leave no gaps between the faceplates and the stem body by tightening to 6Nm, followed by securing the lower side bolts to the same torque.

The Crossfire stem uses M5 bolts with a 0.8mm thread pitch and a 18mm threaded section and includes a 1mm washer at the bolt head.

The stack height for the Crossfire stem is 35mm.

You need at least a 55mm straight section on the handlebar to fit the Crossfire stem.

Your handlebar decides it, not the stem — measure the centre section of the bar you are fitting. The two are not interchangeable and there is no adapter worth using. Both Crossfire versions have the same 35mm stack height, the same 35 and 50mm lengths and zero rise, so the only real difference is weight: 130g and 156g in 31.8mm, 125g and 150g in 35mm.

Stem length changes the handling more than most people expect. The 35mm takes weight off the front wheel and quickens the steering, which is what you want on steep, technical ground. The 50mm moves you forward, calms the steering and helps the front tyre bite when you are climbing. It also changes your reach, so treat a 15mm jump as a fit change rather than just a feel change — if the bike already fits you, stay with the length you have.
