Yes — the Ripper2 takes standard SPD cleats and behaves like a single-release SPD system, with 5 degrees of float once you are clipped in. Float is how far your heel can swing side to side before the cleat lets go, so it stops your knee being locked into one exact position. The release angle is 18 degrees, the same as the rest of our clip-in pedals.

Installing all the pins is not necessary. You may find that cleats engage more easily with fewer or even no pins. We encourage you to experiment with various pin configurations to find the setup that best suits your riding needs.

Both the clip mechanism replacement kit and the Axle Replacement Kit are available direct from Funn — the axle kit has a Ripper2-specific option, so pick that model when ordering. For removing and refitting the axle, follow our service manual.

The Ripper is the original World Cup pedal — a bigger 93 x 100mm cage, 21mm thick, at 570g. The Ripper2 is smaller, thinner and lighter at 90 x 100mm, 17mm and 500g double-sided, adds the 15-degree tilted engagement, and its single-sided version gives you a flat face for normal shoes. The Mamba goes the other way: a full 101 x 102mm flat-pedal platform around the clip plus the GRS grease port, at 450g single or 500g double. All three share the same 18 degree release, 5 degrees of float and SPD-compatible cleats.
