Does a 1X drivetrain still need a guide?

Narrow-wide chainrings and clutch derailleurs keep the chain on most of the time — but rock gardens, botched landings and worn rings are where "most of the time" fails. An upper guide weighing as little as 30g is cheap insurance against a walked-out finish to your race run.

Match the mount to your frame

The Zippa Lite comes in a version for every mounting standard: ISCG05 for frames with tabs around the bottom bracket, BSA for threaded bottom brackets without tabs, plus E-Type and D-Type for frames that use those fittings. Upper guide, full guide or bash guard

The Zippa Lite is an upper-only guide at 30g for 26T to 36T rings — all most trail bikes need. The Zippa DH adds a lower roller and an integrated bash guard for 32T to 38T rings at 175g, built for downhill and bike park abuse. In between, the Zippa AM and Zippa LG cover aggressive trail setups, and the Zippa Lite Bash Guard protects the ring without guiding the chain.

Size it to your chainring

Guides are sized by tooth count, and running the wrong size means rub or poor retention. Check your ring's tooth count first — then match it to the guide's stated range.
