Flat or clip-in?

Flat pedals give you instant foot-out freedom and an easier learning curve — grip comes from steel pins biting into your sole. Clip-in pedals lock a cleat on your shoe to the pedal, holding your foot in place through rough sections and letting you pull as well as push. Neither is faster by default; it comes down to how you ride. Our flat vs clipless guide walks through the trade-offs.

Funn flat pedals

The Python is the flagship: a thin, wide alloy platform with replaceable pins. The Funndamental offers a full-size platform for bigger feet and burlier riding, and the Taipan takes a shin-friendlier approach with a chamfered leading edge. For juniors and smaller feet, the Taipan S runs a 95 x 80mm platform and, at 325g a pair, is the lightest pedal Funn makes.

Funn clip-in pedals

The Mamba and Mamba S cover trail and enduro clip-in duties, while the Ripper2 — winner of a Design & Innovation Award — is built for aggressive riding. The Clast gives you one pedal and two ways to ride it, and the Tactic targets cross-country riders chasing grams. All use an SPD-compatible cleat system.

Platform size and pins

Match platform size to your shoe: a platform that ends mid-sole concentrates pressure and tires your feet. Pin count and placement set the grip level — more pins bite harder but make foot adjustments more deliberate. Funn pins are replaceable, so a rock strike costs you a pin, not a pedal.

Built to be rebuilt

Every Funn pedal has spare axle kits, bearing kits and pin kits available, so a season of abuse is a service job rather than a replacement. Service guides for each model are on the manuals page.
