Python Flat Pedals

The Python pedals feature an integrated cartridge axle that facilitates easy servicing. This system combines a full-length bushing for enhanced support with two 685 (5 x 11 x 5) bearings to ensure smooth operation and durability.

To maintain optimal performance of your pedals, we offer an Axle Kit and Pedal Pin Kit as available spare parts. For those seeking enhanced grip, we also provide a Long Pedal Pins Kit featuring 6mm pins for superior traction.

For guidance on both removing and replacing the cartridge axles, please refer to our service manual. The necessary special clamps for this procedure are included in our axle replacement kit.

The Python body is 10.5mm thick, which is very low for a forged alloy pedal. Less pedal hanging below the axle means fewer strikes on rocks and roots, and your foot sits closer to the axle, so the pedal feels more stable underfoot. The platform is 103 x 110mm with a 60mm Q factor, and the pair weighs 375g.

There are 11 removable pins per side. If you want more bite — wet conditions, steep descents, or a stiff-soled shoe — the 6mm Long Pedal Pin Kit noticeably increases grip. Standard replacements are the Mamba / Ripper / Python Pedal Pin Kit. Pins are a consumable on any flat pedal — a rock strike will bend or shear one long before anything else wears out.

The Python uses an integrated cartridge axle, so the whole assembly comes out as one unit, and the Axle Replacement Kit includes the special clamps the job needs. The bushing remover and press are not in that kit — those are the separate pedal bushing press and extractor tool. If you have not done the job before, any bike shop can, and the service manual shows each step.
