Headsets

The Funn Descend range covers zero stack (ZS), external cup (EC) and integrated (IS) headsets for 28.6mm steerer forks. Upper and lower cups are sold separately, so you can match each half of your frame's standard rather than buying a set that only half fits.

Work out your headset standard first

A headset standard is written as two halves, upper and lower — for example ZS44/28.6 | EC56/40. The first figure is the type and the head tube inner diameter. The second is the fork steerer diameter on the upper, and the crown race seat diameter on the lower.

The two halves do not have to match. A frame commonly takes a ZS upper with an EC lower. If you are not sure what your frame uses, work through our guide to headset standards and the S.H.I.S. code.

Upper cups: ZS44, ZS49 and ZS56

All uppers take a 28.6mm steerer. Stack height is what changes your bar height, so check it before you order.

Lower cups: ZS and EC

Lowers are listed by crown race seat diameter — 30 for a straight 1-1/8" steerer, 40 and above for a tapered fork.

Integrated headsets: IS41 and IS42

Integrated bearings drop straight into machined seats in the frame, so stack height is 0mm and nothing sits proud of the head tube. The Descend Integral ships as a complete kit — headset cap, crown race, and both bearings.

• IS42/28.6 with IS52/40 — 62g upper, 36g lower
• IS41/28.6 with IS52/40 — 60g upper, 36g lower

Setting your bar height

The Descend spacer kit holds one each of 2mm, 3mm, 5mm, 10mm and 15mm, in nine colours. Mixing sizes covers most heights you would actually want, and the kit stacks to 35mm in total.
