Solo DX Narrow-Wide Chainring

Direct mount means the chainring attaches straight to the crank arm rather than to a separate spider with bolts. The quickest check is to count the bolts holding your current ring on: three, into the back of the crank arm, is the SRAM direct mount this ring is cut for. Two other cases to rule out. Shimano's direct mount is a different shape and needs the Solo DS; cranks with a four-bolt spider take the Solo or Solo 96. And if your crank came as part of a SRAM Eagle Transmission groupset, it is a T-Type crank with its own eight-bolt chainring interface — still SRAM, still direct mount, but not this one, so the Solo DX will not fit it.

Match it to your frame: Boost takes the 3mm offset, non-Boost takes 6mm. This is the one to get right, because the wrong offset still bolts on perfectly — it simply puts your chainline 3mm out, and you feel that as noise and reluctant shifting at the ends of the cassette rather than as an obvious failure. If you are not certain, check the rear hub spacing rather than trusting the frame's model name; Boost is 148mm, non-Boost 142mm.

28T, 30T, 32T and 34T, running from 60g to 80g. Size is gearing rather than fit — all four use the same direct mount interface, so nothing about the installation changes. 32T is the common trail choice on a wide-range cassette, 30T or 28T make steep climbing manageable, and 34T suits flatter ground. Whichever size you take, the offset still has to match your frame.

Usually not. The alternating narrow and wide teeth fill the chain's inner and outer links so it grips the ring instead of working loose, and with a clutch derailleur most riders never drop a chain. Downhill, bike park and racing are where a guide still earns its place, because there the one run in a hundred is the one that costs you — the Zippa Lite ISCG05 is 30g and bolts to ISCG05 tabs if your frame has them.

9 to 12 speed. The tooth profile is cut for that whole span, so the ring does not need to match your drivetrain's speed count — an 11-speed and a 12-speed chain both seat correctly. The two things that do have to match are the crank interface, which must be SRAM direct mount rather than Shimano's, and the offset, which has to suit Boost or non-Boost.
