The same plates fit every Equalizer stem whatever its length, and whatever its rise, so both the reversible Equalizer Stem with its 10mm rise or drop and the zero-rise Equalizer Zero Stem take the same kit.

It is the full set for one stem: both face plates and the bolts that hold them. The Equalizer clamps the handlebar with two separate plates rather than one wide faceplate, so a stem needs the pair. They are machined from 6061 alloy, the same material as the stem itself, so nothing is being downgraded when you swap them for colour.

Check either the handlebar or the stem — whichever is easier to read. Most bars have the clamp diameter printed near the centre, right where the stem grips it: look for 31.8 or 35. The stem carries the same figure. The two are not interchangeable: a 31.8mm plate will not go around a 35mm bar at all, and a 35mm plate on a 31.8mm bar cannot clamp it safely.

The order matters, and it is not the usual cross pattern. Start all the bolts by hand, then tighten the upper plate first until the gap between it and the stem body is closed completely. Only once the top is closed do you tighten the lower plate. Use a torque wrench and stay within the figure marked on the stem — alloy clamp bolts are easy to overtighten, and an overtightened bar clamp is the usual reason a handlebar ends up marked or crushed.
